Basil (which literally means ‘king’), also called Saint Joseph’s wort, is a minty #herb that is thought to originate in India, having been farmed and cultivated there for 5000 years. It is best known for its culinary purpose, #Southeast cuisine in particular.
Basil has been used in the ancient Indian Ayurveda and in Chinese medicine for its immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory antioxidants. Jewish folklore recommends it be used while fasting to add strength. Many Christian churches use it in their holy water. —And the ancient Egyptians and ancient Greeks believed #Basil would help the soul find heaven after death!
There are many different strains to the lovely leaf of #Basil; a large spectrum of taste and flavour, ranging from the lemony #Citriodorum, the sweet Italian clove #Genovese and the liquorice #Anethole.
Naturally, Basil plays a huge role in our Cucumber & Wild Basil fragrance. With the addition of Cucumber, Melon, Grapefruit & Coriander this clean fragrance will refresh any space, any time of year.
